Autism treatment and education in Jupiter Florida photo
Location

We are located in the lovely oceanside town of Jupiter, Florida, approximately 80 miles north of Miami, 150 miles southeast of Orlando/Disney World and 15 miles north of West Palm Beach. Local attractions include quiet beaches on the Atlantic Ocean, nature preserves, golf, fishing, kayaking, shopping and fine restaurants.

Choice of airport

Families traveling from within the United States or Canada are encouraged to use the Palm Beach International Airport. Upon arrival, you will be 15 miles from Jupiter. The next closest airport is Fort Lauderdale (1¼ hour drive).

Families traveling from outside the United States can choose either the Miami or Orlando airports. Although Miami is closer (90 minute drive), heavier traffic can be stressful for some. Some families describe the Orlando airport (2 ½ hour drive) as easier to navigate and comment that the drive from Orlando to Jupiter is more relaxing than the drive from Miami. An alternative for those wishing to reduce driving on arrival in the US is to fly to New York, Philadelphia or Atlanta and take a connecting flight to Palm Beach International Airport (30 minute drive to Jupiter).

Car rental

You will need a car. Typical car rental rates can vary from $250 to $600 for the week, according to the size of car and season.

Weather

training and programs to help children in Florida photo

During the winter season (November - April), South Florida is a popular vacation destination due to our spectacular weather and beautiful beaches. Daytime temperatures average in the 70’s (Fahrenheit) from December through February and the 80’s during November, March and April. It is usually sunny.

The summer season extends from late May through mid October. While temperatures are hotter, you will save money on lodging (and possibly on car rental and airfare) by coming during this period. The beaches are quiet and the ocean temperature is a delightful 75-80 degrees. Everything is air-conditioned, including our teaching rooms. Our summer weather is very humid, with daily high temperatures averaging between 88 and 93 degrees Fahrenheit and a daily afternoon thundershower. Longer rainstorms are more common between August and early October.

Accommodations

Lodging and meals are not included in our programs. We recommend the Jupiter Bay Condominiums. This is a family-oriented resort close to the beach. Their rates are comparable to the rate for a single hotel room, but they provide a full apartment. Our clients have been complimentary about the cleanliness and safety of the property, the attractive pool area and the amount of space. There is no better value in the vicinity.

The furnished, two-bedroom apartments include a sleeper-sofa in the living room with sleeping room for six people. Each unit has a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, and a screened porch with table and chairs. A grocery store and restaurants are very close.

Early reservations are essential. We suggest that you request a unit on the first or second floor, in order to avoid climbing outdoor stairs to the fourth or fifth floor. Most families also request an apartment with only one door, for added child security.

The 2012 rate for a two-bedroom, two-bath unit begins at $1000 per week from December 15th until April 15. Reduced summer rates are offered between April 15 and December 15 and these are usually reduced by at least $300 per week. There are additional mandatory fees for cleaning and sales tax and there is a refundable security deposit of $250.
